I have ordered Take Away from here a couple of times and also tried their Banana Leaf meal recently, and overall the experience was pretty good. Most of items we tried tasted good. Service was not bad and definitely a good option for South Indian Cuisine in Edison. Decor and atmosphere is just average.

Loved the food! Not too oily and great taste. Reminded me of Bangalore style biryani. Chicken curry is excellent! Would highly recommend.

Amma's Kitchen offers an unparalleled dining experience, particularly for connoisseurs of South Indian non-vegetarian cuisine. The star attraction, the Banana Leaf Non-Veg Thaali, is a culinary delight that promises to tantalize the taste buds of even the most discerning food enthusiasts. As a self-proclaimed food critic, I can attest that this establishment surpasses expectations. Service at Amma's Kitchen is exemplary, with Venky leading the charge with his exceptional attentiveness and hospitality. Personal favorites from the menu include the delectable parotta, succulent goat curry, flavorful shrimp sukka, and tantalizing chicken sukka. Each dish is a testament to the chef's expertise and dedication to authenticity. Moreover, Amma's Kitchen boasts a commendable selection of biryanis, while their butter milk stands out as a refreshing accompaniment to the hearty meal. For those seeking an authentic South Indian non-vegetarian dining experience in the heart of Edison, look no further than Amma's Kitchen. My strong recommendation stems from countless satisfying visits and an unwavering assurance of culinary excellence.

The new location is tucked away at the back of the little plaza, it's roomy but by no means a fancy interior. It's simple and functional for a happy sit down. The girl was extremely polite and had to tell us they weren't doing meals which was what the Mrs had her heart set on, because it wasn't 12:00pm yet. We ordered chicken curry with paratha, a vada plate, masala dosa and a breakfast combo (dosa, idli, vada with sambar, coconut chutney, tomato chutney and peanut chutney. All the dipping chutneys especially the coconut was delicious and the sambar was the epitome of home cooking. We couldn't resist and ordered a fish meal to go since it was 11:40 by the time we were done. The curry was very good and although we brought it home, it would have been better to eat at the restaurant on the thali plate just for the experience. The fish pieces unfortunately were just the filets that you'd get in the frozen section but still very tasty. I'd prefer to try the goat or chicken next time. Definitely looking to go back and try the unlimited meals. Value for money is also excellent and can't be beat on taste.

Always gotten take out from here and my go-to order is the fish fry (king fish/pomfret). The fish is lightly coated with spices and fried, reminiscent of something I had growing up. Pairs great with steaming white rice. I haven't tried their other fare but it's very pocket friendly and I know some people who swear by it.

Went for dinner on a Saturday. The location is in Edison, where we have many options for Indian food. My family likes Southern Indian cuisine so this place was it for us. We liked the food we tried (banana leaf).

Concept of Amma's Kitchen came from Tamilnadu, India when Jayalalita start this concept to provide good food at cheap price (especially to cater poor ), That's why price in India is always very minimal.. Same we're continue in Edison, NJ.. As both me and my wife enjoy South Indian food, we thought to give it a try.. Overall, very good experience.. Food was amazing and very authentic.. Also portion size was more than enough.. I personally enjoyed Veg combo meal and it's must try.. They have outside seating but we sit inside as it was cold .. so something to try if there is a nice weather .. Highly Recommended!!

Visited the new ammas kitchen restaurant and we just loved it .. 5/5 overall :) Absolutely awesome food. Cheap and best . We love the breakfast combo and all items here ... Especially the chutneys . The red/ peanut chutneys were out of the world. Vada. Could be better . It was kinda hard .. chapati kuruma was good . Best was the breakfast combo and Ghee dosa .. . Amazing and fast service ... parking is a little smalll as compared with other restaurants . Overall a very good experience..

I started this review even before I tasted the food here. Seems strange right? Actually .....no for a change. We ordered idli (rice cakes) and medu vada. Medu comes from a Kannda word meaning soft and vada meaning fritters. The vada is made of black lentils. Spices and curry leaves. The 2 dishes are served with chutney and sambar. These south Indian delicacies are hard to find even in India for a $1 each. The have other dishes like the paratha for q dollar too. I'm not sure how the restaurant is making money and what the background is here other than I seeing the picture of Amma..Honorable late CM of TN...Jayalalitha, who has helped and served the people in state she served. I wouldn't be surprised if her foundation is subsidizing the process here. Don't worry, I did taste the food and they were good. Just make sure you eat it hot or get creative by converting the medu vada to dahi vada if you take it to go. Note that idli was voted the most healthiest breakfast.
